What are Chakras:

Chakras are energy centers in the body (originating from ancient Indian traditions, primarily Hinduism and Yoga) that correspond to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and relational experience, such as safety, self-worth, communication, and trust.
When it comes to money, many of our challenges are not purely practical but deeply embodied, shaped by lived experiences, conditioning, and nervous system responses. Exploring money healing through the lens of the chakras allows us to gently identify where tension, fear, or resistance may be held in the body and meet it with compassion rather than judgment.
This approach is a key part of my holistic coaching work, where we honor the reality that financial wellness is not just about numbers or strategies, but about healing the relationship we have with money on every level: mind, body, and spirit.

The Seven Main Chakras:

How Chakras Work and Why They Matter

Chakras are pathways through which life force energy flows throughout the body, influencing our physical sensations, emotional responses, and sense of safety, worth, and connection. When that energy moves freely, we tend to feel more grounded, clear, and aligned. When it becomes restricted, often through lived experiences or long-held beliefs, it can show up as tension in the body, emotional overwhelm, or repeating patterns, including in our relationship with money. Working with the chakras invites us to gently align physical sensations with emotional awareness, supporting a more integrated sense of well-being. Practices like mindful movement, breathwork, meditation, affirmations, and other grounding rituals help release blockages and restore balance, making this a powerful and holistic approach to healing money wounds from the inside out.

Please listen to your body and ensure you are physically able to participate in any yoga or movement practices. Always modify or skip poses as needed. Before using herbs, teas, or dietary supplements, consult with your primary health care provider to ensure they are appropriate for you, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or managing a health condition.

The Root Chakra: Safety, Survival, Stability

The Money wounds here:

• Fear of not having enough

• Chronic financial anxiety

• Hoarding or over-controlling money

• Difficulty trusting that basic needs will be met

Body cues: lower back tension, feeling ungrounded, panic around paying bills.

Core healing themes: safety, grounding, belonging, trust in stability.

Root Chakra Healing

If their money wounds feel like fear, scarcity, or instability:

  • Put feet on the floor and practice a slow grounding breath (inhale for 4, exhale for 6).

  • Do a “money safety check” by reviewing only today’s needs rather than catastrophizing the future.

  • Create a simple, nonjudgmental snapshot of current money (bank balances, bills due).

  • Repeat: “I am safe to look at my money.”

  • Do something basic and stabilizing like a walk, warm drink, or tidying a small space

Root Chakra Somatic Practices – Grounding Safety (Lower Body)

For fear, instability, scarcity patterns

Practice: Foot-to-Ground Anchoring

  1. Stand with feet hip-width apart.

  2. Bend knees slightly and shift weight into both feet.

  3. Imagine the floor rising up to hold you.

  4. Exhale longer than you inhale.

  5. Say internally, “I am here. I am safe.”

Why it works: It brings the nervous system out of fight-or-flight and reestablishes basic safety around money.

Root Chakra Yoga Pose – Safety, Stability, Grounding

Primary Pose: Mountain Pose (Tadasana)

How to cue it: Feet grounded, weight evenly distributed, soft knees, long spine.

Accessible variations:

• Sit in a chair with both feet flat on the ground.

• Place hands on thighs for grounding.

• Lean slightly into the feet to feel support.

Why it helps: Mountain Pose creates a somatic sense of “I am supported” and brings stability into the lower body, reducing fear-based money responses.

Full Chakra Alignment and Healing Practices:

Full-Chakra Somatic Practices - Integrating All Money Wounds

Here’s a simple but potent closer that unites everything:

The Flow Through Practice

  1. Sit comfortably.

  2. Bring attention to the base of your spine. Inhale.

  3. Imagine a warm line of energy rising through your torso all the way to the top of your head on the exhale.

  4. Repeat slowly 5–7 times, letting each chakra feel “included.”

  5. At the end, place one hand on chest and one on lower belly and breathe into both hands.

  6. Say internally: “I am aligned. I am open. I am ready to receive.”

Why it works: It creates coherence between safety, desire, worth, connection, truth, clarity, and trust. It's also a nervous-system reset.

Full-Chakra Integration Yoga Pose

Primary Pose: Reclined Bound Angle (Supta Baddha Konasana) Arms open, hands resting on lower belly and heart.

Accessible variations:

• Support knees with blocks or pillows.

• Place a bolster behind the back for full-supported recline.

• If lying back isn’t comfortable: Seated version with soles of feet touching and hands on heart and belly.

Why it works: This posture opens the entire front body while keeping the spine relaxed. It lets the energy flow from root to crown and integrates all the chakra work into one cohesive, regulated state.

Extra Tips

  • Colors matter: Eating foods aligned with the chakra’s color reinforces energy work.

  • Intention: Before consuming, set a small intention like “This supports my abundance and self-trust.”

  • Hydration: Water is critical for all chakras; consider adding fresh lemon, herbs, or a splash of fruit for vibrancy.
